Daisy Completes T Level Industry Placement at S I Sealy

Over the past month, S I Sealy was delighted to welcome Daisy, a T Level student currently studying Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction, for a hands-on industry placement and to explore a wide range of career options within the sector.

Industry placements are a key part of T Level qualifications, created in partnership with employers to equip young people with the practical knowledge and skills the industry needs. During her four-week placement, Daisy experienced a different discipline each week, gaining a broad and engaging insight into our work and the building services industry.

Her placement began with our Building Physics and Sustainability team, Net Zero UK, where she explored energy modelling, sustainable design principles, and the tools used to minimise a building’s environmental impact. She then joined our Electrical Design team, followed by our Mechanical Design team, working on detailed building designs, and developing an understanding of mechanical and electrical design principles. In her final week, Daisy worked with our Building Information Modelling (BIM) team, gaining valuable experience using digital design tools to coordinate and refine building projects such as BIM 360 and Autodesk Revit 3D software.

When asked about the highlight of her placement, Daisy commented: “The highlight of my placement was working alongside the whole team and exploring the different aspects of building services in a real-world setting. I enjoyed discovering the range of options available and was surprised by how much I liked the precision and creativity involved in drawing the pipework layouts.”
