Building Energy Modeller & Carbon Assessor

Established in 1949, we are a multi-award-winning company that excels in the delivery of sustainable M&E design. We are a previous HVR Consultancy and CIBSE (Small) Employer of the Year. We specialise in Building Information Modelling (REVIT), digital design engineering (MagiCAD MEP) and sustainable building services design through Building & Energy Modelling (IES VE, EDSL TAS). We are the largest single office of specialist building services engineers in the North West and employ over 20 building services engineers, a team of building and energy modellers and REVIT technicians.

The Company is one of the leading M & M&E practices in the North West, and we are currently expanding our sustainability team. In line with the government’s net-zero 2050 ambitions, we offer renewable system sizing calculations, carbon emission modelling, net-zero building design, along with a range of other building sustainability services.

We now have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced graduate to join our large and expanding team to work on a diverse range of projects across all sectors, both locally and nationally, with a company that are leaders in the decarbonisation of buildings.

The successful candidate will have a suitable degree in Sustainability, Building Physics, Building Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other such degrees appropriate for the role along with a number of years experience in the consultancy industry and will also:

  • Have a strong interest in sustainability, green buildings and building energy modelling
  • Have a good understanding of energy flows and building systems
  • Have strong report writing skills aimed at both technical and non-technical readers
  • Have a good command of Microsoft Office applications
  • Have a willingness to learn and develop new skills

An ideal candidate will

  • Have a good understanding of Building Embodied Carbon and lifecycle carbon and the various methodologies for the calculations and reporting of that embodied carbon.
  • Have a good understanding of the building energy modelling process
  • Be fluent with IES VE or EDSL TAS modelling software
  • Be familiar with Autodesk REVIT software
  • Have detailed knowledge of regulations relating to building energy and emissions
  • Be familiar with concepts of thermal comfort, daylight, and airflow modelling

Advantageous qualifications and prior knowledge:

  • LCEA
  • LCC
  • DEA
  • Retrofit Coordinator / assessor / training under PAS2035
  • Knowledge of PAS2035 / PAS 2060

The candidate will be capable of working independently but with senior support based on project requirements.
