Abbey Hey Lane, Gorton
- Sector:
- Later Living & Care
Client: Southway Housing Trust
Architect: Pozzoni
Budget: £14m
Completed: 2021
Abbey Hey Lane comprises of 106 extra care apartments, 43 of which are one-bedroom and 63 of which are two-bedroom flats. There is also a bistro and beauty salon at the front of the building, which will be open to the public. Alongside this, there is a private car park, office, reception and a large community garden.
We utilised ground source heat pumps in the M&E servicing strategy brief and design for Abbey Hey Lane via a network of external boreholes, which are linked to heat pump units to provide heating and domestic water to each flat. To reduce the carbon footprint, the client was keen to utilise Photovoltaic panels (PV) on the roof of the apartments, this source of energy is fed into the power supply to then be utilised by the users.
We are overseeing the design and build of the new development that is set for competition in 2021.
