Bank of East Asia, Manchester

Architect: The Fairhurst Design Group

Budget: £2.8m

Completed: 2013

S I Sealy was employed by the architect, The Fairhurst Design Group, to provide full mechanical and electrical design and site supervision at Bank of East Asia’s office at 3-5 Charlotte Street, Manchester.

The building, which is the Bank’s first UK site outside of London will incorporate a banking hall, private banking facilities, secure areas, roof terrace, staff rest room and gymnasium, as well as a highly secure and top specification data centre.

The building was stripped back to its structural shell with a complete re-fit.  The existing floor to ceiling heights are highly restricted, and therefore create a significant design challenge for the installation of new mechanical ventilation and comfort cooling throughout.  The building includes air source heat pumps, onsite electricity generation and sophisticated lighting and CCTV.
