Achieving Carbon Neutrality Under the New ISO 14068‑1 Standard

We are proud to celebrate three consecutive years as a verified carbon‑neutral organisation and to have successfully transitioned from PAS 2060 to the new ISO 14068‑1 standard.

ISO 14068‑1 is now the leading international benchmark for demonstrating and verifying carbon neutrality. It provides a clear and transparent framework, placing stronger emphasis on real emission reductions, detailed reporting, and robust governance, ensuring that carbon‑neutral claims reflect genuine environmental progress.

The transition required us to conduct a comprehensive review of our organisation’s emissions, including Scope 1, 2 and relevant Scope 3 under a rigorous independent verification process, validating both our reporting and our reduction activities.

This achievement demonstrates our commitment to decarbonisation and ensures our carbon-neutral status is aligned with the latest guidance.

While ISO 14068-1 relates specifically to our organisational carbon footprint, we continue to place carbon reduction at the heart of every project we deliver. Recently, we completed the J R Clynes Building in Oldham, which has been designed for future connection to the planned district heating network and is set to achieve a 65% reduction in carbon emissions against the baseline. Meanwhile, our ongoing project at Benabo Court in London is on track to deliver an 80% reduction in operational carbon, with embodied carbon levels significantly outperforming the GLA benchmark and the AHG-specific KPI.

Achieving certification to ISO 14068‑1 is a significant milestone in our net zero journey and reinforces our long‑standing commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, both in our organisation and through the projects we deliver.
