Steve Dale - Director
Steve joined the Practice in 1985 following a background in the electrical contracting industry. Steve commenced at the Practice as a Senior Design Engineer and has progressed through Associate Director to his present position of Electrical Director, gaining ever increasing experience in all aspects of electrical services in wide range development types.
Steve has specific expertise in the areas of specialist lighting, sound systems and stage lighting having carried out a significant amount of developments in a range of prestigious hotels and leisure facilities throughout the country. Steve is currently managing a roll out program for three major private care home providers on a national basis. One leading care home provider has a stated objective of achieving a zero carbon property.
Steve is respinsible for health and safety within the Practice, and for our CDM systems. He is also a member of the Association of Project Safety. Steve was also responsible for our accreditation to The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme.

David Stafford - Director
David first joined the Practice as a year-out student in 1983 whilst completing his Building Services Engineering degree course at the University of Liverpool. David then rejoined the Practice in 1986 and over the previous 20+ years has progressed through the Practice to achieve his present position as one of the Directors. During this period David has expanded his knowledge and experience within the Education, Public, Private and Commercial/Industrial Sectors.
During the early 1990s David was responsible for the implementation and our accreditation to ISO 9001 Quality Assurance System and is currently our Quality Director, Financial Director and Marketing Director.
During recent years David has concentrated largely on the commercial and local authority sectors where he has extensive experience in significant developments at Keel University for Keele Park Developments and numerous other major local authority, industrial and commercial developments.

Chris Crookes - Associate Director
Chris joined the Practice in 1998 and therefore has in excess of 10 years experience with the firm.
Chris is particularly interested in developments in contemporary technologies and is particularly knowledgeable in the fields of low energy lighting and ICT systems. He is also one of our experts on HV and LV network design.
Chris has a wide range of knowledge and experience in a variety of development types, although his particular skills lie within the commercial sector. His recent projects have included major refurbishment schemes for the NWDA, various office and station schemes for Rail Properties, new build office developments for a variety of developers and private clients, major public refurbishments for Trafford Council together with laboratory refurbishment works at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Chris also has extensive experience in major electrical testing and rewiring schemes having undertaken such projects recently at Yale College, Wrexham and Manchester Grammar School.

Philip Murphy - Associate Director
Philip Murphy joined the Practice in 1975 and therefore has over 30 years experience with the Practice. During this time Philip has become one of the most respected Mechanical Building Services Engineers in the Northwest and his skills include design, procurement and project management. Philip has carried out developments for an extremely wide range of clients in a diverse range of development fields. These include local government, national government, industrial, health and petro-chemical industry projects.
Philip has gained particular experience and expertise in the field of healthcare and is our Healthcare Technical Director.
In recognition of Philip’s contribution to the success of the Practice, he was promoted to his current role of Associate Director in January 1996.

Daniel Madden - Principal Mechanical Engineer
Daniel joined S I Sealy in 2004 after working for a national Mechanical & Electrical Design and Build Contractor. Since joining the Practice, Daniel has completed a First Class Honours degree in Building Services Engineering; he became MCIBSE in 2008; and recently obtained accreditation as a Low Carbon Consultant.
Daniel has carried out developments for an extremely wide range of clients in a diverse range of sectors, including education, healthcare, retail and commercial. His recent projects include: four new 6th form colleges in Merton, London; a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ administration building at College Llandrillo; 10 Surestart Children Centres for Trafford Council; refurbishment of Tameside General Hospital A&E; and a new Renewable Energy Centre for Barnsley College.
Daniel has also headed a team of engineers to ensure Manchester City Council complied with approved code practice ACOP L8 ‘Control of Legionella Bacteria in Domestic Water Systems’. Daniel organised a team of Water Treatment specialists to assess 900 buildings within one year.
Daniel is also our Quality Manager and ensures S I Sealy follows the procedures detailed in Quality Assurance ISO 9001, and also Environmental Management Standard ISO 14001.

Paul Newsome - Principal Electrical Engineer
Paul joined the Practice from a contracting background as a trainee design engineer in 1997. Paul’s experience as a qualified site electrician proved invaluable and he quickly established himself as an innovative and extremely professional design engineer who has progressed to his current position as Principal Engineer.
Paul has taken a particular interest in current technologies and has become one of our engineers most familiar with intelligent lighting installations, ICT installations and intelligent fire alarm installations.
Paul has developed expertise in all areas but particularly and most recently within the healthcare field, where he has acted as the Electrical Project Engineer on a wide variety of projects including new day care theatres, ward upgrades, generator installations, medical imaging departments and theatre refurbishments.
Paul is our primary electrical engineer in the healthcare sector and is also responsible for the Practice’s IT installation.

Matthew Pickford - Principal Mechanical Engineer
Matthew started his Building Services Engineering Degree at UMIST in 1998. He undertook his year out placement at S I Sealy, and we were so impressed with him that we sponsored him through his final year!
Matthew is a CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant and CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessor, which means that he is competent to minimise energy use and carbon emissions from buildings in design and operation; and he goes beyond the current legal minimum for improving the energy performance of buildings.
He has worked on a wide range of projects in different sectors. His key clients include: JD Sports – he has worked on over 200 stores across all the JD Sports brands; Salford University redevelopment; and Salford University Think Lab – this was a complex series of relocations for a number of University departments; BUPA Care Homes – he has worked on a number of new builds as well as over 20 extensions.

Mike Robinson - Principal Electrical Engineer
Mike joined the Practice in 1982 directly from school as a trainee electrical building services design engineer and hence has in excess of 25 years experience. During this time with the Practice Mike has developed to become one of the most respected electrical building services engineers in the Northwest and his skills include design, procurement and project management. Mike has carried out developments for an extremely wide range of clients in a diverse range of development sectors. These include local government, national government, industrial, commercial, public and private sectors, healthcare and pharmaceutical projects.
Mike has particular experience and expertise within the education, commercial/industrial and retail sectors. Mike has recently carried out a number of significant developments for Keele Park Developments at Keele University and numerous projects for the education sector. In addition Mike has been the principal electrical engineer overseeing the national refurbishment programme of in excess of 400 JD Sports retail outlets.
